The Office of Student Financial Aid administers financial aid programs and services to students and their families, striving to increase affordability and enhance student enrollment and graduation. Office of the Registrar
The Office of the Registrar is the steward of official student academic records and is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and security of those records under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In partnership with various campus units, we implement, support, and uphold academic policies related to: class and event scheduling, registration services, enrollment and degree verification, assessment of tuition and fees, grade processing, degree audit configuration, and printing of official academic transcripts and diplomas.

Office of Communications for Enrollment Management
The Office of Communications for Enrollment Management (OCEM) is responsible for the marketing, communication, and branding strategy for all Enrollment Management units. Through collaborations with enrollment management colleagues, as well as academic and administrative units across campus, the team creates simple, audience-focused, data-driven solutions for complex enrollment-related challenges.

Data Analysis and Systems Services
Data Analysis and Systems Services oversees data analysis, reporting projects, and computer systems implementations for Enrollment Management units. They support the undergraduate CRM system Slate and are responsible for homegrown applications like myIllini, as well as managing the mechanics of processing applications and other Enrollment Management processes.
Principal’s Scholars Program
The Principal’s Scholars Program (PSP) is a University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign statewide mathematics and science initiative that works in conjunction with parents and teachers to prepare disadvantaged students for college preparatory pathways and the global world by focusing on the development of critical thinking, computational literacy and higher order thinking skills as a systematic educational reform strategy.

Leadership Team
Dan Mann
Dan Mann is the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management with responsibility for campus enrollment, undergraduate admissions, student financial aid, registration and records, enrollment management communications, data analysis and system services, and the Principal’s Scholars Program.
Dan began his career in 1980 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and joined the University of Illinois in 2004 as Director of Student Financial Aid. He has a B.S. in Accounting and Finance and an M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University. He has served as the 2015-16 National Chair of NASFAA (National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators), the 2011-13 National Chair of COSUAA (Coalition of State University Aid Administrators), the 2005-06 President of MASFAA (Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators) and the 1996-97 President of ILASFAA (Illinois Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators).
Michelle Trame
Michelle Trame is Executive Director of Student Financial Aid at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, managing over $1.2 billion in aid annually. She serves as National Chair of the Coalition of State University Aid Administrators (COSUAA) and is a past president of ILASFAA and MASFAA, with prior service on NASFAA’s executive board. Committed to advancing affordability and access, Michelle works to remove financial barriers for students. She holds a B.S. in Finance from Illinois State University and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Meghan Hazen
Meghan Hazen is the Registrar for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her team maintains the official student educational records, including the Catalog of Courses and Schedule of Classes, and grants access to those records. They also implement academic policy pertaining to student registration and records. Previously, Meghan was the Director of General Studies and the Assistant Dean for Advising and Registration in the College of Business. She earned a B.A. in the Teaching of Social Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.Ed. in Adult and Higher Education from Arizona State University.
Sara MacKenzie
Sara MacKenzie has worked in various admissions roles for the past 20+ years at three large public Universities. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Sara is involved with various non-profit organizations in the field and enjoys working to enhance admissions and enrollment for students and families pursuing higher education.
Doug Burgett
Doug Burgett is the Director of Marketing, Communications and Strategic Initiatives for Enrollment Management at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he also earned his B.A. in Graphic Design. Since joining the university in 2003, he has led major marketing and digital communication initiatives, first in Public Affairs and later as a founding leader of the Office of Communications for Enrollment Management. Doug oversees strategic planning, marketing strategy, and integrated communications across all Enrollment Management units, directing efforts that strengthen recruitment, yield, student engagement, and the university’s brand presence. He previously chaired the Illinois Webmasters Coordinating Committee for seven years and currently serves on the University Marketing and Communications Advising Council.
Thomas Skottene
Thomas Skottene is the Director of Data Analysis and System Services for Enrollment Management. He has been with the University of Illinois since 2002 in a variety of technical roles for the UI-Integrate project, the Office of Student Financial Aid, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Thomas oversees major computer system implementations and data analysis and reporting projects. He is originally from Norway and earned a bachelor’s degree from North Park University and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.
Pilar Ramon-Pfeffer
Pilar Ramon-Pfeffer, Director of the Principal’s Scholars Program (PSP), a premier statewide pre-collegiate initiative that collaborates with elementary/middle and high schools in 9 target Illinois communities. The Program promotes STEM competencies by building interest and aptitude in mathematics, science, communications, and technological innovations while specializing in college-access preparation.
Ms. Ramon-Pfeffer cultivates donor-centered relationships to foster funding parameters and partnership resources to advance PSP endeavors. She sets strategic directions for college preparation, promotes innovation in course offerings and online instruction, encourages interdisciplinary initiatives in curriculum and pre-college instructional pedagogy. She develops departmental policy, executes strategic planning, cultivates stakeholder relationships, and provides fiscal oversight and management for the Program throughout Illinois.
Pilar has over 33 years of pre-college educational development, instruction, and policy administration and serves as the Chief Fiscal Officer for PSP. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Pomona College and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, she is a certified University of Illinois Business Administrator and holds leadership development, team building, and personality assessment certifications. Ms. Ramon-Pfeffer serves as a leader and presenter on the national level in college access pre-college educational development and instruction.
